I have just been told that the person who chaired the Malaysian standards committee that recommended a “Disapprove with comments” to the OOXML proposal has now been removed. See this.

Finnish Chairperson also ousted
Finnish national standardization body has quite abrubtly ended the
contract for the it standardization team’s new specialist Lassi Nirhamo.
Only last week he attended SFS’s press conference and was going to go to
the OOXML Ballot resolution meeting with the Finnish opinion resolution.
