While I still think that the OOXML has to be given a fair hearing, I think we should be constantly vigilant about their primary backers strong arm tactics. See the long list of boiler plate submissions to ANSI. The national standards bodies are, in many countries, understaffed, relegated to a good-to-have status and that would mean that if these entities were asked to vote on an ISO ballot, the sad reality that whoever is able to spin a “story” will win. I would like to believe that these bodies are above the temptations of “incentives”, but who am I kidding?
Those at MS reading this blog (you know who you are), engage with the standards committees in the open. If you continue with the tactics of FUD, I cannot but agree with the No OOXML effort.
