Anyone who proposed proprietary software has something to hide!

A blast from the past. I think the relevance is even more in today’s economy. How can any CIO worth his yearly salary even consider proprietary software? “Any IT Manager/CIO who proposes proprietary software has something to hide” was a great statement that was made at a FOSS bill hearing in Manila this past December.

  1. well sometimes you don’t have an alternative
this is not applicable in asic design. about 60% of the tools are not available as FOSS equivalent and if you have, they produce a chip that is 1000 times more experience in terms of area, timing and power.
    Unfortunately it is a reality.
    E.g. Synopsys Design Compiler
