Future of featuritis

We are all well aware of the reality that most applications today (especially the commodity desktop ones) have so many features, that the average user uses only about 10-20% of the “functionality”.

What we need is a usage framework of software that is task or end-result oriented. So, if you wanted to writeup the meeting minutes, you can choose the minute-format, enhance it as needed and the go get the final results.

This is what perhaps LyX does, may be not. I think it is time we refined the circa 1984 WYSIWYG (aka wi-si-wig ie what you see is what you get) paradigm to move to a WYSIWYI (what you see is what you intended).
