I am really pleased to announce that the 1st run of the executive level program called “Chief Open Source Officer” will be held in April 2025.
We all know that open source software, hardware, data and methods is the baseline of how the world today benefits in all industries, governments, academia, NGOs, global NGOs, and the civil society.
We also recognize that not all of those in positions of decision making have a background in technology, let alone open source technologies and the norms and values that made open source so successful.
With that preamble, I am collaborating with the forward thinking Singapore Institute of Technology‘s SITLearn to offer a 4-week, executive level program called “Chief Open Source Officer” <- the link to the program at SIT.
This program is meant for the C-suite (-1, and -2 levels), from all industries, so that they can understand how is it that when empowered individuals from around the world put their minds to solve problems in a collaborative and mind-expanding way, vast stretches of economies become dramatically productive and gaining significant advantage. They will learn how to bring these ideas and methods in tangible ways to their organizations to make a difference.
The current artificial intelligence renaissance would never have happened as rapidly as it has without the millions of lines of open source code that has been created, shared and improved upon.
This course is pegged at the executive level. It is about business decisions, understanding the technical basis, balancing the open source ethos and challenging and learning from participants on how these make a difference. We will have well known open source industry luminaries, community thought leaders to hear, learn, challenge and gain insights.
The key decision makers (CxOs, IT heads, legal, procurement, marketing and sales leaders) are encouraged to consider this program.
Naturally, it is also meant for all those who aspire to technology leadership roles, which by internalising how and why open source works, craft new ideas to bring business benefits.
The program is held in Singapore and is open to anyone, from anywhere.
It will be held in a hybrid form with 2 days each in week 1 and week 4 being in person at the brand new SIT Campus in Punggol and the remaining sessions all online.
Contact me directly if you have questions or want to run this for your organization.
